“Despite the fact that the 2019 Mazda6 will start $1,875 higher than it did before, our analysis finds that the added equipment offsets most of the difference. When you consider that i-Activsense used to add $625 and the automatic transmission used to cost $1,050, the actual price increase comes out to $200.”

I was hoping for AWD on the 2.5 Turbo. Hopefully next year.

RIP fun times. Other than the truck, my first car was a 5spd Mazda6 GT

No surprise, sadly. How quickly will the Accord follow?

I’d give it one more year, tops.

Probably not for Canada. For some reason mazda loves giving us manuals.

What was the take rate on the manual transmission? I'm guessing pretty low.

THING THAT NOBODY BOUGHT NO LONGER FOR SALE.
OUTRAGE ON INTERNET INCREASING .

If they only offer it on the base 2.5 it obviously will be. Even if they did offer on the 2.5 Turbo no one would buy it.
Bet hardly anyone buys the Accord Sport manual as well. On Cars.com it’s showing me there are just 50 for sale nationwide with the manual- 1.5 and 2.0turbo, A
utotrader shows 970
. Which means dealers are not stocking them or everyone who wanted to get one has one already or both.

According to Autotrader, there are 972 new, manual Accords for sale nationwide. There are only 63 new, manual Mazda 6s. Hopefully the Accord has a little more life left in it...
Honda takes pride in designing and building the finest manual transmissions - hopefully that will be a good reason for them to keep them around for a little longer.

Cars.com showed just 50. Checked Au totrader now, yup 972.
Both the 1.5T and 2.0T SPort come with manual, willing to bet the 1.5T manual gets the axe end of the year.

If only they all came used from the factory with $20K off MSRP. S igh...

I can understand why a lot of dealers wouldn't stock many manuals. It's a dealbreaker for the vast majority of people. And if I was buying a car as huge as the new Accord, I don't think I'd want to bother with a manual anyway. The first car I bought was a 93 Accord with a stick shift, and I loved it, but the new Accord just looks like a comfy highway cruiser at this point

Meh. Wasn’t it only on the base trim anyways?
I’d buy the Honda over it anyway, you get more equipment and an engine that actually has some oomph. A 2.5t/6MT combo would be nice, but that engine feels more diesel like than the rev happy 2.0 in the Honda. Always sad to see a manual go, especially a Mazda, but clearly they’re focusing on being pseudo luxury nowadays.

Yup. base trim only.
They haven’t discontinued the manual on the 2019 Accord sport (1.5t/2.0t) ... yet.

Yeah I could see the 1.5 manual go in the future , it seems that most would choose the 2.0 anyways.

Was trying to find the current take rate, but no luck.
It matters so much what dealers are willing to keep on their lots. Some dealers will have some manuals around, but some dealers refuse. Not many people are willing to wait, even if it’s what they’d actually prefer. Can’t really blame the dealers, though - they’re just stocking what sells.

I thought that was the case, but I can’t find a manual for the 2018 Mazda 6 on Mazda’s own website.
When did this happen??

At least they aren’t cancelling the car altogether...yet.
I’m waiting for the 6 to be the next victim of the crossover takeover. And then, I’ll be left with an orphan car. Oh well.

If they offer AWD on the 2.5Tur b o I’d seriously consider this as my next car, new or used depends on my financial situation few years from now.I don’ t need AWD for the weather but i want it to put down all that torque.
Even if not, I’ll give it a look. But I rather go RWD/AWD vs. FWD. But let’s see my preferences might change as I get older.
